Distortions are a series of spatial collages that visualize the disorientation of algorithmically mediated visual culture and its impact on human perception (or, at least mine). I began these spatial collages, ‘Distortions,’ three years ago, and it’s taken me this long to refine the visual language of the work. With psyops and misinformation, algorithmic behavioral training, and operational images, I feel my own perception increasingly hyper-mediated by these disorienting illogics. I’m also thinking about noise— inside and outside machines—and how it impacts discernment.
